|Yes, Virginia, There is a Greg Hill
or there was
Hill was born in California on Wednesday, the 21st of May, in 1941. That
was just slightly more than six months before the United States' Pearl
Harbor was bombed by the nation of Japan leading immediately to
America's entrance in what became known as World War II.
If Kerry Thornley is enigmatic, Gregory Hill is elusive. Until his death was
reported in 2000, many Discordians believed he was a myth--some still
believe that. His link to Malaclypse the Younger, co-author and designer
of Principia Discordia, wasn't confirmed until His Wholiness the Rev.
DrJon got the first edition of the book released from the John F. Kennedy
archives in 2006. Even Wikipedia has an article on Malaclypse the
Younger but not on Gregory H. Hill.
He attended the East Whittier California High School where he met Kerry Thornley.
He worked for Western Union while a young man in the Southern California area of
Around 1958 or 1959 while still a teenager, he, Kerry Thornley and others began
working on the Discordian religion.
In 1965, the first edition of Principia Discordia was printed, allegedly in five copies.
The most famous edition was the fourth.
Hill spent much of his life worked for Bank of America as a computer programmer,
and moved to the San Francisco Bay area. He had apparently visited there while
A designer of one of the early video games, Hill wrote about computers including
editing a computer-oriented newsletter. He also published an article proposing
using a computer to transmit signals to remotely control robots.
He was married to Jeanetta; they later separated and may have divorced.
Ironically considering Kerry Thornley was investigated in the John F. Kennedy
assassination, a Jean Hill was a well-known if perhaps wrongly-discredited witness.
Gregory H. Hill died in the San Francisco Bay area of California on the 20th of July
in 2000. A long-time smoker and drinker, he died of esophageal cancer.
His Social Security Number was 566-52-4984 and his address and phone number

The Battle of Crete was in its second day of Germany's airborn attack; New York
Yankee Joe DiMaggio batted against the Detroit Tigers while early in his 56-game
hitting streak; and the German battleship Bismarck, the pride of the German navy
and the most heavily armored ship afloat, sailed for the first time (it would sink the
